Session Summaries by GRE Tutors

Oklahoma City, OK GRE tutoring
In this session the student and I went over the two math sections she had completed for homework since our last meeting. We checked over questions that she got incorrect, and also went into more detail about a few types of problems in particular. We spent some extra time working on problems involving averages and how to solve a system of linear equations. I believe that she would benefit from some additional practice with these topics so I will be sending her some additional practice online. We also talked about permutation/ combination problems in some greater detail which she found helpful. She did very well on her verbal reasoning practice sets so we didn't have much to go over with respect to them, and she will continue to practice that material but remain focused on the math.

We went over an argument essay the student had written and discussed ways to make it stronger. We then went over quantitative reasoning problems and covered data interpretation, graphing and solving linear equations, simultaneous equations and permutations/combinations in the most depth. She had a positive attitude towards the material reviewed. I included strategies for preparing for the test during the remaining weeks before she takes it, including getting used to timing, making math and vocabulary flashcards and practicing the strategies we discussed.

We covered various practice problems relating to the quant section in the GRE. The student had struggles but always did a good job explaining to me how to solve a problem after we discussed. She will continue to practice her vocab and will take a practice test, she should be in great shape to achieve her goal of a 300 on the GRE.
