Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered midpoint and distance formulas and reviewed area and circumference formulas and basic use of a compass. Next week, we will finish chapter one, and the student will have a take-home test to review. She has some homework this week from the textbook."
"We covered narrative techniques, elements of writing, and revising. He is still doing well with most of his writing and his revising. He was positive today. We revised together. He still handled most of the writing pretty well. He should read some of "Their Eyes Were Watching God" to do well on module two. Hopefully, he gets some reading done today. He got 100% on the story he worked on in the last couple of days. It was a good session. His writing is still getting better, and his understanding of revising and the elements of writing is improving."
"We covered notation with angles and the idea of angle addition (and subtraction). The student was able to recognize straight angles and to write equations about pictures of angles (= 180 etc.). She learned vertical angles are congruent and how to locate vertical angles. She solved for x and plugged back in to find all angles in a diagram. We began the concept of interior vs exterior angles and applying the related facts/theorems. She was a bit more challenged this session, but she did very well. Her Algebra is strong."
"We covered order of operations and basic distributive property. Specifically, we reviewed the student's homework and then briefly introduced distribution and its importance. We'll continue next Thursday by going over any homework he's working on and then moving on to the next concept introduced in his math class."
"We covered parallel lines in their entirety. We looked at the relationship of angles formed by transversals and special properties of parallel lines. We also look at parallel lines in a coordinate plane and did problems to practice the concepts covered."
"We covered points, lines, and planes. The student didn't really struggle. He got a little confused on some of the plane concepts, like intersecting of two planes. He had a positive attitude and really seem to catch on very easily. I used drawings as a teaching strategy to help with the terminology. This was our first session, and I think the session, overall, was very good. I could tell that he understood the material."
