Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed topics from the student's class handout. We also discussed the format for writing. She thinks that her test tomorrow will be on content addressed in these notes. She had a test this week and said that it wasn't that hard, because she knew the content and the questions were more factual than analysis based. I've asked the student to provide her unit 4 syllabus when she gets it and we will review chapter 12 next session. There were no concerns for this session."
"The student and I worked on a homework assignment he had for the majority of this session. We also began looking into his finals schedule and creating a plan that will help him study and achieve success on all of his tests."
"I did not see any grades, but she only needed very minor prompting to answer the questions. I think the whole concept of constitutional power is something that young students struggle with, but she seems to be able to make the right connections that foster her understanding. She and I will meet again next week."
"We reviewed student's AP US History assignment on political socialization. He needed to talk through the concepts of what forms our political socializations. He is a bright young man that seems to have a good grasp of the concepts."
"The student and I reviewed one of the chapters for her upcoming history test. She read the chapter on her own time and did a good job recalling details, and we identified a few areas for further study. The student also had plenty of questions prepared, giving me numerous opportunities to explain events and people of significance."
"On Sunday we worked on continuing to review for the student's history test, which is on Tuesday. It is focusing on the Crusades and Feudalism, as well as the Black Death and the 100 Years' War. His teacher just posted some information about the Fall of Rome and he said that there might be some questions about that on the test, so we spent some additional time reviewing that. We went through all the vocab terms from each unit, the hierarchy of the medieval social structure and the Catholic Church, the timeline for the High Middle Ages, and did some sample fill-in-the-blank and matching questions over the material. I am seeing him again tomorrow for some last-minute review before the test."
