Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished correcting the second math section of the student's practice test, and then did drills in adding and subtracting fractions, converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, and long division. We also moved on to verbal skills, where we did several problems on sentence completion and synonyms."
"The student has a strong understanding of 3 digit addition and subtraction. Today, we worked on elapsed time, and will continue working on this until he has mastered this concept. We worked on word problems dealing with comparison using math review techniques."
"The student and I met from 8:15-9:45. We did corrections on his quiz over ellipses and hyperbolas. We then focused more generally on conics in preparation for his unit test. We worked on transforming equations from the general form to the standard form using completion of squares. We also worked on being able to classify conics based on their equation."
"Reviewed the student's current work in algebra (associative, commutative, distributive properties; multiplicative identity property). We also practiced some long division. For the next week, she is going to continue practicing her times-3 and times-4 facts to increase her fluency as well as continuing in her course work. We practiced some of the vocabulary from a recent lesson in French, focusing both on pronunciation and recall of the vocabulary words. Much of this portion of the lesson was conducted in French."
"Today we covered questions on the math and science sections and went over the practice test for each section. I assigned her the next practice test for next week. She is becoming more confident and comfortable with the math section, so our focus is now on the science section."
"In today's session the student and I reviewed material for his upcoming test. We reviewed fiscal and monetary policy again, and spent time covering the long-run adjustments to AS/AD model. We also discussed the net export effect."
