Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is improving. We are working on his consistency to get him to do well because he understands the material."
"He and I worked through the first chapter of our grammar book and are finished with pronouns. We started the nominative case today, and he will work on that until Friday. He watched the news in German on ZDF and gave me a good report about the events of the day."
"Today the student and I reviewed solving systems of three equations with three variables. We started out making the same mistakes as yesterday, with glancing over negatives or making things negative that weren't. He ended strong, finishing four problems in a row with the correct answer and no help! He is going to let me know if he needs more help this weekend before his review test."
"Today we built words using spinners, and then read a leveled reader (focusing on the OO sound). I had the student answer three comprehension questions, and we discussed using the text to spell words correctly."
"We continued working on a review of her big project. We chipped away at a few more functions, and have a much better idea of what needs to be accomplished for some of the tougher relationships between the classes. We also worked on using a custom priority queue class, because her assignment specified that we needed to use an implementation from her textbook. We are still chipping away at the functions, but moving much faster now than when we initially started. She'll work on what she can throughout the week, but we'll for sure meet this coming Saturday."
"We talked about the student's scores from the last ACT, and where we need to focus and improve on. We tried to do a bit of everything from the practice test to get a better assessment than a test from months ago. English and math were fine. We definitely want to continue looking at reading and science."
