Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered logs and how to simplify and expand them. The student seems solid, but I still recommended that he practice more. He has a final exam coming up, so we are planning to meet more frequently in the coming weeks."
"We covered membranes and signal transduction. Her attitude in the session was great. I did a lot of lecture type of explaining and also use a lot of real life examples."
"We went over basic concepts around measuring national income and price changes (GDP deflator vs CPI), as well as Chapter 12 - Productivity and Growth. I got us started of on some problems that were off subject but we quickly got back on. It sounds like she has done all her Aplia and is following the material."
"For our first lesson we went over significant figures and conversions (unit conversions and kelvin to Celsius). We had a few problems at first dusting off some procedural cobwebs, but the student got the hang of it after a few problems and rarely made mistakes on anything. Overall I'm very confident she will succeed in her upcoming exam."
"We reviewed a pretty difficult reading on ancient Chinese government and worked on the written assignment, which was to develop written questions based on the reading. The student will send her draft questions, and I will send back comments."
"We specifically focused on the quantitative reasoning sections and the math sections of the HSPT, as that is where the student continues to need the most work. Even though he was already strongest in the reading and English sections, he still showed improvement in his grasp of and ability to analyze the question structure during the practice time we did spend on reading and English. We will continue to work on math and quantitative reasoning even more intensely as we continue, but we made great progress today and I continue to be impressed with the student. I believe we also figured out the issue with accessing the practice tests that I sent out. He should have a few in his inbox that I confirmed before the session ended. His task this week is to complete those tests when he has some free time. I look forward to our next session and continuing to watch his skills grow and improve."
