Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started the session by going over what the student had trouble on the first time he took the SAT. He needs work mainly in writing and reading. He did well in math. We started by going over reading comprehension questions off of essays to gauge his ability, which he did well on but he needed assistance getting the main point of the paragraph. After that we tried out some math, where he did really well until a difficult level problem came up which was his problem on the SAT. I told him that he would need to brush up on concepts even more as that combined with doing a multitude of high level and moderate level math questions would improve his score there. We finished by going over questions on the online SAT practice test. While he did very well in answering hard questions, he got about half right on the moderate ones and dropped all the difficult questions. For the weekend, I assigned him to do all the conceptual writing questions in his AP book and then for him to attempt a practice test we could go over next week."
"During this session, the student and I continued looking at the math chapter of the SAT prep book and answering the questions in the chapter. We then looked at some more types of math questions that might show up on the test. We also spent some time looking at grammar questions."
"We reviewed proper SAT strategies for each section. The student completed a number of diagnostic test questions that we reviewed. I assigned him a diagnostic test for homework."
