Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today I: 1. Edited the student's Econ paper, 2. Helped her review for her finals, and 3. Worked on two major writing assignments with her."
"Today we edited a six-page philosophy essay for grammar and flow. The student's arguments were great, and the essay was stronger after our edits."
"I edited the student's essay for grammar, and also made a few content-level suggestions and critiques. I hope she gets a good score, and is happy with the results."
"We worked on spelling words for the student's upcoming spelling test next week. With the exception of a couple hiccups, he did very well and needs only a little practice to completely master these words. He seems to enjoy working with me and I enjoy working with him. Sometimes, he has a little too much fun, but he gets back on task when I redirect him. He is having fun learning and that is what I want because this material can get monotonous. Aside from that, he is doing well, and I hope to build off these successes in future sessions."
"We worked on the student's sight words this week. When he touches the word, he is able to decode the word. I had him practice his spelling words using my iPad. This will become part of our routine each week. He will practice sight words that give him trouble and spelling words using a drawing app on the iPad. His story for the week was a little longer than usual, but he was able to get through a majority of the story by himself. His goal is to read chapter books by the end of the school year."
"We worked on writing responses to questions about a fictional book the student is reading. He worked on pronunciation and spelling, as well as definitions of unknown words. He was reminded to be mindful of the use of capitalization and punctuation."
