Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During today's session, we completed the remainder of the math practice test we had previously worked on. I tried to clarify and explain several key math concepts for the student, including logarithms, relationships between sine, cosine, tangent, and other trigonometric functions, and properties of exponents. Furthermore, we reviewed formulas that he would need to memorize for the test, including geometric formulas such as areas, perimeters, circumference, volumes, and surface areas, as well as distance formula, Pythagorean theorem, and midpoint formula. I showed him the general form for converting logarithmic expressions to exponential expressions. We then spent the remainder of the session completing a practice English section. He reported feeling more confident overall about every area of the test. I congratulated him on his improvement, noting the significant gains he has made, especially in English and reading, in a short amount of time. During our next, final session, we will primarily focus on the science section, and finish our review of key math concepts."
"We went over one section of the practice test. The student said that it took her ~30min. She needs to practice exponents, geometry, and symbolic functions."
"The student and I began by reviewing the SAT essay she wrote prior to our session. She did well on the essay. She and I then reviewed probability and geometry concepts, as she indicated that these were areas she wanted to practice. We finished up the session by working through some of the more challenging ACT math problems. She is clearly a strong math student and I hope that today's review of probability and geometry was helpful for her."
