Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we covered the different properties of segments, angles and triangles congruence, using the SSS, SAS, ASA and CPCTC Theorems. I have suggested the student to keep track of his own progress by making his own flashcards. He does not need extra practice."
"We covered: Parallel lines cut by a transversal, angle theorems, triangle theorems, and parallelograms."
"In this first session we covered several topics in preparation for an upcoming exam. We worked from teacher supplied materials. Specifically, deductive reasoning, 2-column and flowchart proofs, law of detachment and law of syllogism. She is a strong student."
"Today, the student and I continued viewing Chapter 3 in preparation for his retake next week. We worked on different strategies that involved identifying perpendicular lines, parallel lines, proofs associated with lines, angles, and triangles. Equations were applied in order to practice and learn different strategies in solving the equation. We finished the chapter 3 review, and I encouraged him to continue practicing the equations that he feels he is struggling with."
"He is really struggling with angles, especially seeing them as playing more than one role (i.e. an angle might be part of a triangle and might also be part of a pair of supplementary angles). Keep practicing! Learning to see them in multiple dimensions comes with practice."
"This session focused on identifying and evaluating composite functions. The student did well with the material discussed. One note to be made is that the student tends to try to do the work in his head and occasionally makes mistakes as a result. The student was advised to show all steps to ensure mistakes were minimized and easier to catch. The student will review inverse functions, and families of functions for our next session."
