"We went over the translations for the student's final. We worked on verb conjugations and practiced vocabulary."
"Yesterday the student needed help learning 3 new grammar tenses and 20 vocab words. We went through the verb tenses which were for "will have," "would have" and "had done (subjunctive)" verbs. She picked up on the tenses pretty well and wasn't confused at all when we did some exercises. I also emphasized to her that she would have an easier time understanding when to use which tense if she translates them into English. Then, we made vocabulary flashcards, and as always, went through them one by one until she was able to recall the words correctly."
"The student brought the sheet with the topics for his final. We worked on the first half. The student is almost there with the verbs. The area he will need to improve is his vocabulary. His conversational skills are much improved. I gave him homework to go back to his book and review a few of the irregular verbs such as IR and also to study his numbers and days of the week. The student's sharp, so with some extra attention to reviewing those past items, he should do very well."
"The student and I reviewed the material on personal pronouns in the accusative case and completed some exercises on the subject. We then practiced creating sentences with "Wie findest du" and personal pronouns in the accusative case. Then, we looked at prepositions that only take the accusative. Finally, we reviewed the new vocabulary, which she needs to memorize by our next session."
"The student and I worked on combining two like sentences and replacing the main noun with "der, die, or das" depending on the gender of the noun. Afterwards we studied some of the new material in another class about muscles in the body and how they work."
"We went over characteristics and feelings as well as the states that surround Germany and what our home state is called. Next week I am going to teach him the Dative form which is going to be very hard. So, I have made time so that he gets it and can continue on with the case system into Genitive, which will not be as hard. He didn't have any homework and the material that was reviewed with him, was easy. It was all in German and English, except for the state names. He was good about it. I told him to review the characteristics, feelings, and the land names. I will send him homework via email. Once again, I will need it back by next Friday."
