Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we worked on the preterit and on exercises. We focused on spelling of the conjugations. There are few variations depending upon the verb, whether it is a regular or an irregular verb."
"In our session, we reviewed present and preterite tense verb endings. We reviewed numbers up to one million and continued in the Spanish workbook."
"We covered stem-changing verbs (e->i, e->ie, o->ue), ser/estar review, clothing and food vocabulary, and sentence construction."
"Today, we started by reviewing a text the student had written. As the text made good use of the archaic simple past and imperfect subjunctive tenses, we jumped straight into Cinna, which served as a springboard for various topics, such as the expression "tantot, tantot" and the verbs voila and voici. This time, he demonstrated very high comprehension of the text. Then, we started reviewing last week's grammar. We got into an engaging discussion about the importance of grammar and register to various languages, such as French and English, and ended up conversing for about a half an hour. While this was not part of the plan, it turned out to be a very good lesson."
"Today, we went over "Saturday Practice," which was large practice "test" that went over nearly everything we have learned so far. The practice went smooth and quickly, and the student has shown marked improvements since our first similar exercise."
"We began the lesson by reviewing some of the vocabulary that we had been practicing in previous sessions. It is good to see that the student has been practicing; this is very apparent! After reviewing the translation homework, we worked on the verb "faire" (to do) today. She did well on the exercise, especially the listening exercise. We then continued coming up with examples using the verb "faire." She is making progress!"
