Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed a collaborative assignment, made corrections and wrote explanations for errors or omissions."
"We went over solving quadratic equations by factoring, using square roots, and completing the square. I had the pupil practice examples of each until she could solve the problems consistently."
"We prepared for a quiz on matrices. The student seemed to understand the concepts that are problematic for many students. His only mistakes were made as a result of simple math errors. I advised him to do complicated math calculations with his calculator rather than in his head."
"The student and I reviewed her homework, paying special attention to what the differences are between factors and multiples. We were able to cover the math topics that will be taught tomorrow in class- prime vs. composite numbers."
"The main topic for this week's homework was totaling up the value of groups of coins, and showing how the same value could be made up of different sets of coins. The student did very well with this, and with the addition and subtraction review problems included."
"Student 1 and I reviewed his previous exams covering division principles. He can multiply very well. Student 2, his mother, and I went over his current grade in the course and what he needs to do to raise his grade before the end of his trimester. In addition to reviewing what he is struggling with (decimals), we went over some test prep for what his final test will cover (addition and subtraction of fractions), with emphasis on different strategies that he can employ to arrive at the answer. Both students were very receptive to different strategies I taught them and practiced employing them on problems independently."
