"We went over the student's homework. I mainly helped her with some more complicated grammar and word choices."
"The student is doing great. I think it is better that she learn all those questions she missed that will help her a lot with her test. Good luck. Vocabulary is key to improving language skills."
"The student and I first began by him working on his Chinese homework. He had a worksheet and needed to translate ten sentences from English into Chinese. He did a great job and only needed to make a few minor corrections. Most of these corrections dealt with small writing errors and forgetting small words. After completing the worksheet, we practiced writing vocabulary and learning how to write the new words. He did great with this, but should keep practicing over the course of the week. He told me today that he has a 91 in the class, which is fantastic. Great job! Keep up the good work!"
"First the student did her homework. She needed to write down all the characters that her classmates chose and memorize the meanings. I spoke Chinese all the time and her listening was quite good. Then we continued reviewing her textbook and the chapter was about work. I drilled characters with her over and over until she could recognize them instantly."
"We finished reading an article about special forces. The student did pretty well in reading. We talked about several fixed phrases and the story behind it. I will email him some extra material for reading after our lesson."
"The next lesson in the textbook was covered. Again, we focused on getting the new vocabulary down, including reading, derivation and definition of the phrases. I can definitely see the student beginning to improve in her reading fluency. The lesson's new grammar patterns were also reviewed in detail and she had no problem picking up on them and constructing her own sentences. The structure and the way the lesson went was the same as last week. Hopefully, when her next quiz is returned we'll be able to assess if there needs to be a change in the focus of these sessions. I'd say the session this week went quite well."
