Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we went over calculating energy, frequency, and wavelength for various waves in the electromagnetic spectrum."
"The student has a test this Monday that we spent time preparing for. Specifically, we worked on hydration reactions and reactions involving alkenes."
"We practiced calculating components of period, as well as using Hooke's law. She is doing very well and is still waiting to hear back about her last test."
"We went over the ideal gas law (PV=nRT) and how it can be used to find various quantities and how it is derived from individual gas laws. We also went over percent yield and how to calculate it when given the actual yield and after first identifying the limiting reactant and calculating the theoretical yield. The student is very good at making sure his calculations are correct and can anticipate which calculations are necessary to be more efficient. We will work on making a "plan" to serve as a guideline when doing longer problems."
"We went over the lab the student did today in class. We then went over Lewis structures and bonding. He picked this up decently well, but needs some work. We then moved on to molecular structure and vsepr theory. He seems to understand structure fairly well, but was having trouble wrapping his head around hybridization. We will continue to work on this."
"We went over the last notes from the student's class on organic chemistry. We spent some time identifying and learning the reactions for molecules involving oxygen and nitrogen. We also went over her problems for the chapter."
