Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed concepts including molarity, conversions, periodic table, oxidation, nomenclature, mitosis, meiosis, glycolysis, KREBS cycle and the electron transport chain."
"I worked with the student on her science fair project research paper. Her project involves measuring how various solutes change the boiling point of water. She had done a lot of the research, and I helped her to understand the material better. First we went through and added lines to clarify what she was saying. Then we used a chemistry textbook, and I told her things to look up that would improve the paper. I taught her more about the boiling process for water, and she was able to write a paragraph about it. I also helped her do about half of her works cited section. She will do the rest on her own. Overall, I can tell she learned a lot about chemistry."
"We worked through several problems in the book, including problems that combined translational and rotational motion. We did problems that involved solving three equations and three unknowns."
"We went over some basic stoichiometric concepts as well as some practice problems. She had some trouble with the mole conversions, but did really well on the ideal gas equations. I asked her to bring in some of the questions from her past papers as they are better material than I currently have access to. Overall, I thought she did really well. She is a very bright student, and I look forward to working with her in the future as well."
"We went over some conversions from moles to grams and density to grams. The student mastered the topic. The only advice I would give is that the student keep practicing more and more questions and she will do well in this topic."
"We went over some homework problems that the student was having trouble with. We went over linkage mapping using genetic markers, DNA, sequencing, the principles of necessity and sufficiency, genetic crosses, complementation tests, and other principles of genetics. The student was eager to learn and was prepared for the lesson. I am going to follow up by sending her some additional resources for practice and review before her final next Friday."
