"The student came ready with questions from her assessment and homework! She did well on her assessment, but missed a couple of questions that she wanted to discuss. We talked through the problems, and she was able to figure out her mistakes, which were minor issues with her signs. They are covering circumference in class, and she had questions about some of the problems that were not clear. Again, we talked through them, and she was able to figure it out with very little help from me! So far she has no issues understanding concepts. I did not assign any homework, simply advised her to strive for accuracy by ensuring that she is watching her signs when problem-solving."
"The student carries great anxiety with her, which has been hindering her academically. Her mom and I are working together to help her through this. Even in the short time that I have been working with her, we have figured out a few alternatives to her overcoming the anxiety, which in turn (we hope) will help her academically as well."
"The student complete her homework. Once she completed the homework, I taught her a more abstract way of representing the absolute value of x to be x if x greater than or equal to 0 and -x if x is less than 0. I illustrated this to her using multiple examples. We dove into the next lesson, did some point plotting on x-y axes, and solved more problems from the book. The student was very alert and paid attention; she is a joy to work with."
"The student completed her homework for pre-algebra. She was assigned problems regarding adding and subtracting negative integers. She is very good at this topic and learns from her mistakes very quickly. Sometimes she adds things in her head instead of writing it out, which can lead to little mistakes that are carried throughout the entire problem. We discussed the importance of showing your work on tests because then the teacher can give you partial credit. We also completed practice review problems regarding word problems. I think she is very ready for the test and just needs to make sure she checks her work on the test."
"The student completed her Italian homework, which reviewed present tense of many verbs, choosing the verb that makes sense in a sentence, putting fragments together to form a logical sentence, and expressing time. I was sure to reiterate what words meant and to translate as I was reading in Italian. For Algebra 2, she completed her homework on direct variations. This concept seemed to really clear up for her by the end of our session. I gave her a systematic way of approaching these problems in order to clarify what exactly the goal of direct variation problems is."
"The student completed his homework covering various methods of factoring polynomials. He did excellent with all forms of this concept, but I would like to make sure he knows each method by name. We also reviewed long division of polynomials. He has improved in memorizing the steps of this process, but I would like to continue to review next session to help prepare for upcoming tests. I would also like to go over synthetic division of polynomials again. Overall he is continuing to work hard, show sharp study skills, and gain mastery of algebra 2."
