"We covered factoring polynomials and completing the square. We also talked about applications towards factoring and completing the square and how it relates to Ch 4. of the textbook. The next plan is to go into Chapter 1 and flush out linear and quadratic functions."
"We covered finding the area of regular polygons using radi and apothegms. The student initially did not understand why we were doing it this way, but when he understood the equations, he made leaps and bounds in progress. He even solved a problem faster and in a way that I did not interpret, which was really good. We will meet again this week."
"We covered function transformations as well as some basic algebra and inequalities. The student seems to be doing fairly well. We're almost done with the packet that he needs to know for his class in the fall."
"We covered geometric inequalities. I introduced inequalities first with angles and segments, and then we used these concepts to solve inequalities with triangles. We added SSS and SAS triangle inequality theorems to the list of triangle theorems. We went over a lot of problems in each section. I left the student with a review assignment of all the concepts we covered prior to this chapter and a few more problems covering concepts we learned today."
"We covered how to draw a perpendicular line using a compass in two different ways, how to express the equation of a line in slope-intercept form or in slope-point form, how to create the equation of a line using a point and the slope, and how to graph the line using the y-intercept and the slope."
"We covered humor devices, story structure, and more poem and story analysis. A few terms got the student a little tied up, but mostly his struggles came with writing deep answers. I had to make sure he thought more on his answers, as they were often superficial. It worked out by the end. He was positive today. He worked a long time without getting tired or distracted. I made sure he dug deeper as too many answers were too basic. I asked leading questions, and tried to explain what a good answer would address. He is going to finish one part of an assignment."
