Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over more multistep equations. We talked a lot about what the student's goals were, what her interests were, and what she struggled with. I sent her with practice problems. We will have another session tomorrow night. She is doing very well."
"We went over order of operation (what part to do first of a problem that needs to be simplified), graphing, and solving linear equations. It seemed like he really figured out what his mistakes were. Light bulb moment. Good job!"
"We went over simple algebraic operations as well as the idea that math is a system of agreed upon rules that we operate under. The student is struggling with basic multiplication, so I plan on working on multiplication with her more in the future; it is a fundamental skill necessary for success in her math course."
"We went over solving systems of equations using substitution and elimination. Since our last tutoring session, I saw a ton of improvement in his ability to deal with negative numbers! He is much more careful in his work, but there's still room for improvement. I explained how it is helpful to solve with both methods to double check that your answers are correct. He feels very comfortable moving forward!"
"We went over some of the topics that the student felt more unsure of for the test. She was really prepared overall, and was able to understand the material at multiple levels."
"We went over square roots and worked on factoring numbers in order to simplify the square roots. The student had a workbook that goes along with his school textbook. This resource provided extra problems to practice. We briefly covered the concept of imaginary numbers and how the "i" is used when a negative square root is given. He brought a quiz home, so we went over the questions he had missed to ensure comprehension and to allow him to correct his quiz for extra points. This involved reviewing story problems and significant figures."
