"The student and I worked on concepts regarding decimals today in preparation for a test on Friday. We worked on adding and subtracting decimals, which she was nervous about but showed competency. We also continued to practice putting decimals into expanded form, how to round decimals (which she was a little weak on) and how to compare decimals. We then also worked on how to write a concise and clear topic sentence to a writing prompt."
"The student and I worked on her book on section nine math assignments out of both workbooks. She is continuing to practice volume and becoming very successful with her knowledge and skills in that area. She is able to communicate the definition as it refers to the real-world and identify objects that have volume. She was still slightly distracted by knowing the answer key was available while completing her assignment. She is becoming more successful working with expressions as well. We continued more challenging work with factors/multiples of various numbers this evening as well."
"The student and I worked on her math homework. She is working on place value and seems to have a pretty strong grasp of it. She and I also worked on inferencing with some 4th grade passages I brought as well as review for her religion test. Finally, I reviewed and discussed her ASPIRE test results with her mom."
"The student and I worked on her math homework. We reviewed the skills of subtraction and word problems. She struggled with her self-confidence, and we talked about how it is ok to make mistakes. She also practiced her reading skills."
"The student and I worked on her multiplication tables with an emphasis on fours. She also informed me that in her class she is working on converting fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions so we worked on this. She struggled at first when converting decimals to fractions but did much better after going over how to pronounce the decimal given its place value. She is still struggling with ordering decimals, but is showing improvement. We also went over common decimal to fraction equivalents (1/4, 1/10, 1/2, etc.). She is doing well with the recognition of each fraction to decimal."
"The student and I worked on her weekly language arts homework together and made flashcards for the end-of-week test. She struggled with her recent math tests because it's the first time she has ever had a word problem test. We went through each question together, and I provided her with strategies to keep things simple and clear."
