Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Her class hasn't started a new topic yet, due to a school trip this week, so we just reviewed histograms. We warmed up with how to sort data into a frequency chart with given ranges. I then gave her a worksheet where she could use the charts to draw out the corresponding histograms. She had no trouble at all, so we reviewed statistical questions and got started a little bit on integers. She so far knows the number range of [-10,10] and that zero is neither negative nor positive. By then, the session was just about over, so I gave her a short worksheet on histograms, due for next week."
"I am impressed at how much focus she continues to show. She is really putting forth effort into our sessions. Today, we did a math sheet, single digit to single digit, without any picture prompts, and she did excellent. We also did a reading comprehension sheet, practiced counting by 5's, added two more sight words to her list and practiced her fine motor skills by writing upper and lower case D. We also began reading a rebus story, helping her recognize some common sight words through pictures."
"I brought the student more math flashcards for addition 13-18. We worked on subtraction as he has a test tomorrow. He's getting better and getting caught up."
"I checked over the student's homework, and then we went through the ones she had trouble with. Additionally, we went through her test workbook, covering geometric angles. She also learned how to use a protractor...and did very well!"
"I completed an assessment. The student understands most of the concepts already covered. She was having some trouble with decimal place rules for multiplication and rounding. Her homework was unclear about what place she needed to round to, and I discussed that with her mother. He parents were aware and are in contact with her teacher to get some clarity. She worked on some practice problems and was doing better setting up the problems correctly. She was able to make good progress in just the first hour. I left her with the notes and practice problems we did together so she could go over the techniques while doing her homework."
"I covered reading comprehension. The student started struggling with the second comprehension question. The student seemed more enthused about this session. I did include strategies. I did not leave any extra work. When I logged on the student had wrote "thank you for tutoring me.""
