Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Topics: Linear Models, Linear Regression, Linear Analysis; also, continued to develop algebraic skills. Went through professor's lesson plans to clearly explained concepts and identify present issues. Defined point-slope form. Further grew algebraic skills with fractions and exponents. Worked through word problems to explain how to approach each one appropriately. Defined the process in which to solve word problems and identify each case specifically. Conceptually taught absolute value and solidified its understanding. Allowed the student opportunity to grow and develop his mathematical thought process, understanding, and identifications."
"We continued to work on variance, standard deviation, and z-scores. We plan to continue with those subjects and to introduce probability during our next session."
"Covered graphs of functions and manipulation of graphs using attributes of functions as well as some more quadratic manipulation."
"During this session, the student and I went over some of his homework and then worked on his times tables. His homework was about multiplying decimals. He seemed to have a good handle on the material. We finished most of his homework. He has a love for science and I try to impress upon him the importance of math."
"Today went very well. We went over homework problems that the student had emailed to me. They all dealt with parametric equations. Some involved finding the equations of tangent lines, arc length, instantaneous and average rate of change, etc. For the most part she was able to work out most of the problems on her own. It just helped to work together to set them up. She seemed a lot more confident in how to solve these types of problems by the end."
"The student worked on both her reading and math homework. She does not need much encouragement once she gets started. After the session I spoke to her mother, and for the future we will only be covering math even if she has other homework assignments."
