"The student and I worked on sight words - reading and writing them. We read two sound review books. We used a workbook for picking out objects that begin with certain letters/sounds. We practiced writing numbers and his last name. The student repeated the words that appear on the rhyming flash cards and picked three words from each card to practice writing. We ended with reading a fiction book."
"Today, we continued working on revisions of the student's junior research paper. We read through the remainder of the paper for style and grammar, as well as making a few more corrections as suggested by his teacher. I also suggested some areas that could use revision based on the feedback he'd received, particularly looking for places that felt more like summary than analysis. We will meet again tomorrow for some more revision, and in hopes of adding in additional quotes in a couple paragraphs."
"Today, the student had to write a letter to his pen pal. He is getting much better at doing his work."
"We went over her math homework - place values and numerical value. She had me read over her spelling sentences. Great job!! She finished her questions for science. We went over addition and subtraction flash cards. She went through 1 1/3 addition in 5 minutes, and just over 1 side of subtraction. She read her book for 10 minutes."
"We went over reading a chapter book picked out at the library. We focused on reading out loud with me and reading on their own. I asked reading comprehension questions and chapter summaries. They will read the rest of book for homework and go over in next lesson. We worked on map of U.S. states and studied it. We practiced reflex math exercises and some exponents exercises."
"We went over sight word flash cards for automaticity. Played a game using "Wordical" cards and dice to construct words for phonological awareness and processing speed. Re-read familiar texts for self-monitoring. Created a word web for vocabulary."
