"This tutoring session consisted of using decimals. The student did activities on adding decimals. She did an excellent job on this activity. She was also introduced to multiplying decimals. She was able to solve problems using multiplying decimals. She was given several steps to solve problems of multiplying decimals. This tutoring was very successful."
"Today I tutored the student in 2nd grade math. We went over simple multiplication, Time Telling, and counting money. She seemed to struggle with Time telling the most. She gets the big and little hand mixed up. We will keep working on this."
"Today I worked with the student on his math homework. It was a worksheet on multi-step problems. I would ask him if he should add, multiply, subtract, or divide to see if he's able to figure out how he should solve the problems. For the four problems it took around 30 minutes. He had a few reminders to help him figure out which operation to complete. After we did homework, he went online for a while. The student filled out a math fact families worksheet. Completed with 100% success. He then completed a math drill with multiples of 6. He did not finish within the five minutes, but he did complete the whole worksheet. He will continue working with multiples of 6 until he masters them. "
"Today the student and I completed her language arts packet about life in 1800s in life on the Oregon Trail. She answered some follow-up questions regarding the story and we continue to go over the vocabulary and how to spell the new words. For homework for next week she's going to do a research paper on an animal that is commonly found along the Oregon Trail in the 1800s. As always, she was enthusiastic about the tutoring session engaged and asked about questions."
"Today the student and I covered multiplication and division word problems in class. He turned in one completed assignment to his teacher. He partially completed another. He did really well. We also reviewed the other concepts he is learning in his other subjects. We reviewed habitats, the three branches of government, Paul Revere, and point of view. His attitude towards reviewing his work was awesome!"
"Today the student and I got a lot finished in a short period of time. We started with our traditional mental math exercise, followed by a review of a recently completed math quiz. The quiz covered unit rates specifically, which he and I practiced last Sunday. He earned a B on the quiz missing only two problems. We did quiz corrections, and moved on to another worksheet in preparing for his upcoming test. The practice test worksheet included ratios, proportions, and unit rates. We were able to complete the first half of this review before time ran out. These problems are a good representation of what to expect on the first test and should be understood completely. I hope to email him with an answer key for the practice test so that he can prepare on his own. He has a solid foundation of the concepts on the test, but a few more hours of studying will help him to get an A."
