Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered inequalities first which the student picked up on very quickly. We then talked about functions, and knowing how to convert functions like f(x) into something like f(2x+3). We had more difficulty with these kinds of problems but he was beginning to pick up on it by the end. We then reviewed factoring trinomials to ensure that he remained comfortable with them in the future."
"We covered math and reading today. In reading, we worked on chapter books. The only problems he was having was rushing through and missing or guessing difficult words. However, he made a huge effort and did a really awesome job. In math, we covered expanding form equations. He did AMAZING. He was really focused and got all of the problems right the first time. We also worked on writing out numbers and his determination was excellent and he did great! He was struggling the most with writing out the numbers, but through sounding them out and learning a few tricks he was getting them all! His attitude was patient and focused. A big win was how on point he was! He didn't need any reminders to focus and was working so hard. It was a really, really great session."
"We covered more of substitution, given variables values and then applying the order of operations. I also formulated examples for solving for a missing variable. After that we studied some basic physics per request."
"We covered more work with the Pythagorean theorem. The student's attitude was positive. Strategies included writing the formula, saying it out loud, writing in the substitutions, and arriving at our answer."
"We covered operations with whole numbers via Saxon Math. The assignment was Lesson 13, which was based on comparing and elapsed time. The student showed remarkable competence with execution of the problems. He was extremely engaged in the lesson. He is off to a great start this academic year!"
"We covered percents, fractions, multiplication, and some long division. He is striving to succeed and really wants to do well on his test. He gave me a few topics that he would like me to cover for next time."
