Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Nothing but good things to say! The student's mental math skills are great, and she's very logical--really getting the hang of geometric formulas and how to use them! She wasn't nearly as hard on herself, and we ran through several different kinds of problems, mainly covering the distance formula, and also did some great work with story problems! We also did some in depth work into factoring and radicals."
"Our primary focus today was logic, which the student breezed through without any trouble. She seems very comfortable with this material. We also worked on a couple physics word problems for the first time. We talked about how important it is to always write units throughout the problem, both to get full credit and to make it easier to identify any mistakes."
"Our session focused primarily on the second half of the math section of the SAT we were working on during our last session. We went over the problems addressing the issues with each one and taking the time to explain the steps of how to approach them. I will be bringing in material for the next session to do some prep work before doing more Math practice."
"Our session was shorter than usual. The student only had one geometry homework assignment to complete, and it was very brief. We discussed alternate angles, corresponding angles, and perpendicular lines. She was very attentive and focused throughout the session."
"Prepared for chapter test. Drilled parallel transversal theorems. Discussed transversal converses. Found the slope of the segment connecting two points. Converted from point-slope to slope-intercept form. Found missing angle measures using transversal theorems. Revisited two-column proofs. Discussed focusing strategies."
"Reviewed PSAT guide, particularly, algebraic fractions, linear and quadratic equations. She had some recollection of the slope-intercept equation but had difficulty recalling fractions and quadratic so the plan is to focus on those till her PSAT plus any new material covered in her class."
