Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this lesson, the student and I worked on topics he has struggled with. We spent time reviewing work and the work energy theorem when there are nonconservative forces. We then moved on to problems involving angular momentum and torques."
"In this session, the student and I went over a lot of topics pertaining to electrons in preparation for her upcoming test. I believe this session went very well, and that she is well prepared for her test."
"In this session, the student and I went over genotypes and phenotypes and started our study of natural selection. For each of the vocabulary words - genotype, phenotype, allele, and trait - I had her create her own definition, and then we linked each word to what it actually represented in nature. We went over dominance, and I had her use this information to fill in and answer questions about a family pedigree with hemophilia or Huntington's disease. At the end of the session, we looked at the general requirements for natural selection and how this tended to work in nature."
"In this session, the student was preparing for an upcoming midterm and primarily worked with the new concept of Ksp. He seemed to have a good handle on it, as it follows directly from the material on which he has been working. The only issue going into this test is going to be remembering and understanding what concepts to apply when. While he grasps individual concepts, confusing them in application can be an issue (especially when the concepts are so similar). Regardless, this is not a big issue with the student; he is generally good at differentiating problem types. We also worked some review on Ka and Kb, which he did well on. He has a few questions for his teacher, but with more review, should do well on the test."
"In this session, we began to review for the final exam. We began by looking at the student's first exam. It became clear that the basic chemistry is an area that will need considerable work, and so we will continue with that in our next session."
"In this session, we conducted a final review for the student's final exam. We went over solving for angles using trigonometry, and we also reviewed integration. The student was comfortable with integration, but he did not fully remember how to apply the law of cosine. We worked on two problems that served as a refresher."
