Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The primary focus of this session was geometry. The student is preparing to take an assessment test to gain credit for a geometry class. She has never taken a geometry course before. Although, she has had few lessons during a previous Algebra I course. We began today with midpoint and distance formulas. The practice included applications of both formulas, as well as, using algebraic methods to manipulate the equation to solve for endpoints. Additionally, we worked through a small sample of problems involving angles. The focus of this section was the vocabulary used to describe sets of angles and lines. I left her with extra practice that she may use for midpoints and distance formulas. Also, I provided a sample practice test for the assessment test. She will complete the problems associated with the topics from today's session."
"The student and I continued reviewing for her 9 weeks test. She is in very good shape for the test, and I'm sure she will do very well. We spend some extra time on partitioning lines, because this was a section that she did not feel confident in. By the end of the session, she felt much more confident."
"The student and I continued with polynomials. This time, we reviewed major vocabulary and basic operations. It didn't take him long to master vocab and identify polynomials by their degree and number of terms. The only issue he had was subtracting polynomials as it required a little distributive property. He was able to improve that issue by the end of the session and was able to answer problems with little to no assistance. We ended the session going over evaluating polynomials and graphing them."
"The student and I covered all of Chapter 1. We did the end of the chapter 1 review test, and she scored well. The only concept that she may want to practice a couple more problems on would be identifying lines and rays if given a line with multiple points. Otherwise, she has improved on the concept of angle relationships, and she should do well tomorrow!"
"The student and I covered everything from proofs to angle measures in today's session. The only thing he struggled with was proofs, because he has not learned some of the concepts needed to complete the problems."
"The student and I covered graphing equations and translating equations from various forms into slope/intercept form. He was quite competent and quickly finished the homework, even going back and correcting the questions he had incorrect on the submitted homework. Great work. He also did well in adding small corrections like arrows to show the infinite nature of a geometric line without a specific domain/range."
