Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed rational expressions. Since the student didn't have new materials from school, we looked at online learning tools for review of rational expressions. She was reminded how to solve fractions (common denominator, cancelling CD, etc.). She was keen to try to remember the materials she has learned. We also discussed a problem from her quadratic test, so she understood why she got a small deduction. She got an A for her last test."
"We reviewed setting up and solving linear systems of equations for word problems in preparation of the student's quiz. She has a better understanding of the module now."
"We reviewed simultaneous equations, with particular emphasis on the substitution method. The student's algebra has improved significantly, and she can complete most problems with little to no prompting. I am very happy with the progress we have made over the past few months."
"We reviewed solving linear equations and began solving linear inequalities. The student was specifically struggling with compound inequalities, and we practiced using and/or statements to describe situations where compound inequalities would be used to solve them. We also practiced graphing inequalities in one and two variables."
"We reviewed solving systems of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination. We reviewed finding the domain and range of functions, determining the pattern in a series of numbers, creating equations from word problems, creating slope intercept equations, graphing lines, and plotting points."
"We reviewed solving systems of equations by methods of substitution and elimination by doing extra practice problems assigned by his teacher. We also did some word problems. He often makes small mistakes, such as missing +/- signs and calculation errors. I recommended writing down every step of calculations. We will continue to work on this next session."
