How can Trigonometry tutoring help you succeed?

If you have understood algebra, perhaps it's time to delve into the world of trigonometry. This branch of mathematics starts with the triangle. You've seen that shape before. There are, however, many aspects of the triangle you probably didn't know about. Although it obviously has angles and sides, these have different values/ configurations and are used in different types of calculations. What is the significance of complementary angles? What is a secant? What's meant by angular distance? These are questions that can bring confusion to a student's mind. Let Varsity Tutors find you a professional trigonometry tutor in Newton, MA, to potentially help you improve in your course. Whether you are completely lost, or just need to focus on a specific concept, your tutor can provide the one-on-one help needed to boost your abilities and confidence.

The tutor will first figure out your greatest weaknesses. Their expertise enables them to create targeted lessons, and use the most appropriate materials based on the topic and your individual learning style. There are numerous ways to teach trigonometry, and your tutor can apply the best one for you. As such, you may learn Ptolemy's theorem, or how to work with an arc or radian, much faster than you realized.

Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Newton, MA Trigonometry tutoring
Today's session was productive. We focused mostly on math and multiplication. The student had a book of exercises, and we had a mini competition with her brother to see how many multiplication facts she could find in a grid. After some time of working on that, we worked on her homework. Following homework time, we started playing a game based on fractions. The objective as to roll dice and make a fraction. From there, you find the illustration of the fraction on the grid. The more you find, the more points you receive.

The student and I reviewed an older quiz that she got back, which included sample sizes and probabilities (stuff that she was quizzed on before I met her this semester). I reviewed Venn Diagrams with her and how to read them and create them. We also reviewed the class notes regarding sample sizes and how to apply sample sizes to larger population sizes. We also reviewed a little bit of scatter plots and histograms again.

We covered vectors. This was the beginning of a new chapter so there was no progress to note. The student was struggling most with understanding the word problems and visualizing the vectors in three dimensions. I will be finding practice problems online for the next session.

Today, the student and I only worked on Math. First he completed his homework. Currently he is working on solving inequalities and graphing them. Again, we worked on not losing track of the negative sign during the problem. I also gave him some strategies to help remember the comparison symbols. Afterwards, he and I worked on review questions to help him prepare for his quiz tomorrow. We especially had to review how to use the distributive property in simplifying expressions, and how to use the reciprocal to solve equations. I wrote up some notes and extra examples for him to study.

We reviewed a previous school test regarding extended multiplication and division in the context of word problems. Student only had small errors and we worked through each problem to ensure she had proper adaptable skills to offset this problem in the future. We reviewed addition/subtraction of negative numbers and learned multiplication/division as well. We tested these skills using a number of fun exercises which she seems to really enjoy. While she'll need more practice to completely master negative numbers, student has shown confidence and solid progress in this area.

We worked through trig equations and solving them within the typical interval of the unit circle. I showed her the steps to successfully maneuver through such problems. I sent her two copies if the unit circle and had her review it to get up to speed. We finished the session reviewing homework problems.
