"The student's class is covering area in the coordinate plane, so we went through his homework assignment on estimating the areas of irregular figures and finding the areas of triangles in the coordinate plane by drawing rectangles around them. After that we moved into the next topic: the effects on area of enlarging and shrinking dimensions."
"I brought the student my proof of similarity of three right triangles, building from a 3-4-5 right triangle. He had a fairly simple exercise to do with multiple isosceles right triangles, and we proved that our solutions each solved the Pythagorean theorem and was therefore correct."
"Today the student and I reviewed how to find the value of the variable x in some of his geometry problems where three parallel lines were cut by transverse lines. He was able to apply the concepts that we had covered last week to solve these problems and was able to demonstrate his understanding by completing additional problems beyond those that were assigned by his teacher. We then moved on to US History where we reviewed the 4th Amendment and how due process of law works. We completed one of his US History notes review packets and were able to get through most of the second packet before he arrives in class to finish it tomorrow. He seems to be doing well in his study habits and in using his planner to record assignments and tests."
"We discussed concepts of circles, tangents, secants, and chords. We applied these concepts to practice problems from the textbook. In physics, we discussed concepts of current, voltage, resistance, and power. We determined the relationships between these properties and applied them to practice problems."
"Spent majority of session on trapezoids and kites. Determined if a quadrilateral was a trapezoid and isosceles given a set of points and/or parameters. Used Pythagorean Theorem, theorem 8.18, and properties of trapezoids to find missing sides and angles of trapezoids and kites."
"We studied for the student's test on similar polygons. She had a review sheet on her computer, so we completed that and then worked on some extra practice problems. She understands this chapter really well and did not seem to have any troubles with the problems."
