How can a tutor help you master the ACT?

Are you preparing to take the ACT (American College Testing) exam? This exam is often taken by 11th and 12th grade high school students, and it can be used as a factor in college applications. There are several subjects on the exam, and if you need help to brush up on any of them, Varsity Tutors can help match you with a tutor to go over your test prep material with you. New Jersey ACT tutoring can help your studying efforts for the exam be worthwhile.

The five sections on the exam include science, reading, math, English, and an optional writing section. These sections will draw upon concepts of each subject from your high school career. If you have a hard time recalling the math lessons you learned in ninth grade, your personal tutor can go over that material with you. They can provide practice exams for you to take, so you can refresh your math memory and help familiarize yourself with the format of the test. The math sections will contain mostly algebra concepts, with some geometry sprinkled in, so your tutor can provide various algebra activities for you to work on to prepare for the test. ACT tutors in New Jersey can help you prepare for the exam thoroughly.

I will bring some additional problems to solve on Tuesday if he does not have any homework that needs to be done. We also looked over the essay he needs to write for biology and discussed briefly what information he needs to include.

We reviewed homework that I gave her to work on. We went over inferencing strategies with the mini chapter book I got for her. We discussed what the book was about, who were the characters, and what were her thoughts about the book she read.  We reviewed 4th grade words and did a spelling test. She got 4 out of 5 words correct,  which was very good. We went back over subtracting strategies as far as reminding her how to borrow.  Overall, she is improving and I can really see the change from the time we started and to now.

Student and instructor discussed strategies for answering questions most effectively, and consulted primary texts ("Republic"; "On Liberty"; "Genealogy of Morals";  "Prolegomena to Metaphysics of Morals") to furnish essays with proper supporting quotations and references.

We reviewed the ACT math problems I had assigned - algebra and some geometry problems. We covered the new topics of angles of a triangle and determining angles in parallel lines crossed by a transverse line. We also reinforced the "guess and check" method, and estimating math problems for quicker solving. For the coming week, I assigned additional problems in geometry and word problems.
