Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Concepts covered included constructions, conditional statements, and proving angle measures using vocabulary. Student had a good session and had good energy throughout. Student was able to understand what was necessary and write down necessary conclusions. Student also updated me on his successes within the classroom. Great Job."
"Covered a few more proofs/construction review problems. Began to approach them with more of an algebraic rather than purely conceptual standpoint. Afterwards we began working with the periodic table for chemistry, covering all the information presented and big topics of what atoms are and how they are arranged on the table. Definitely seemed to be a very enjoyable topic, and she is picking up on the science parts very quickly."
"Covered graphing parabolas and performing complete the square. Just needs to practice being careful with negative signs! Otherwise has it down! "
"During our first session, the student and I worked on a homework sheet. As we started working on each problem, we went over some essential math concepts, such as order of operations, adding/subtracting negative numbers, and finding the value of X. She is a lovely girl with a supportive and caring family. She can understand concepts fast, and I assured her mom that this year she will be ready to pass the exam. I assigned her some homework from a resource, only 10 geometry problems that we will go over during our next session."
"During our session, we primarily worked on inequalities and functions, with number lines to represent the solutions of inequalities. The student had an upcoming quiz, so it was important to visit these concepts and take as many examples as possible. It was a bit strange that the teacher went over all the concepts of solving absolute values with inequalities so quickly and barely spent time doing more visual problems. But that's also because the pace of his school is quite fast, so the student needs to be proactive and study consistently. Overall, we had a very good algebra session with a lot of emphasis on solving problems with different kinds of absolute algebraic expression in inequalities."
"During the geometry portion of the session, we discussed the correct notation and process when creating proofs. We also used angle rules and algebraic concepts to solve for missing angles. During the physics portion, we covered scalar and vector quantities (along with their unit of measure), Newton's laws, different types of forces, and summing forces in two directions. The student really appreciated learning the concepts of topics such as what a normal force actually is and why the direction of vectors change in different scenarios. He really enjoyed learning the reasoning behind all the aforementioned topics and looks forward to learning even more about physics."
