"We continued with quadratic equations and their graphs. We focused on real world applications of quadratics. He had issue with identifying what aspect of the quadratic equation was being asked for based on the question. I gave him a cheat sheet letting him know what key phrases identify specific objectives. With it he was able to master questions concerning certain scenarios (free fall/flight). After some homework problems, we spent the rest of the session going over other applications for quadratics."
"We covered angle bisector related theorems and applications. The student showed the usual dedicated attention and effort in covering this material, which included topics still to be covered by his teacher. In solving some word problems, I suggested the use of models like paper folding to aid in solving such questions or exercises. We went over practically all the even numbered exercises, and I left him to try the odd ones."
"We covered angles within a circles, lines in a circle, and how they relate to each other and the arc lengths within the circle. The student seemed to be very intelligent and receptive to all the concepts I was giving; he had no particular trouble with basic circle geometry. I tried to teach much more concept based and based on proofs rather than rote memorization, which I feel is very important for succeeding at geometry."
"We covered basic trig, including setting up triangles, labeling, and solving. We solved for both missing angles and sides working through word problems as well. This was an intro to trig which will bridge to other sessions."
"We covered characterization and diction in his novel. The student plans to finish his book by our next session. He has gotten good grades on every assignment that he has turned in lately. It was a good session. He is doing good work on all of his assignments."
"We covered Chemistry. We went over various mass percentage problems. We also differentiated between chemical properties and physical properties. The student was very quick to grasp the subject matter."
