The student has been given the opportunity to retake her French final on July 11th, which is why her parents wanted tutoring help for her. The test mainly consisted of using the past tense in French. She is a lovely girl with a wonderful attitude and clearly wants to succeed. Her parents are very supportive, as well. We reviewed some samples of past work, discussed what the problem was, and how to correct the French grammar. From the beginning of the lesson to the end, I saw excellent progress, which I shared with her parents. I believe she will do very well with her retake exam. I asked her to write 4-5 sentences each day in a journal that I will review when we meet again on Wednesday, and I think she will do very well. I believe that she learned today how to avoid making the same mistakes. I look forward to seeing her again on Wednesday.

The student is a bright young lady. After evaluating her level, we went over 4 ways of conjugating verbs of the 1st group at the present, past (2), and future tense. We moved on by reading parts of a French novel, which allowed me to correct her accent. I asked her to work on a chart covering the verbs and tenses learned that day.

The student requested to practice more restaurant-related phrases and dialogue since, he will be dining 2 - 3 times a day in a cafe or restaurant. I prompted him to ask for a table for two, request a table near the window, call to make a reservation, etc. We talked about terms for appetizer, main dish, dessert, beverage, and amuse-bouche (compliments of the chef). Then we figured out how to ask the server for more info about the menu. I reviewed various verbs for speaking (dire, parler, raconter), and the difference between ce/ cette/ ces. I taught him how to ask for the server's recommendation between two choices, how to ask about the daily specials, request the check, and say a dish is not what he ordered.
