She described her past experiences and education in Spanish and the responsibilities at work that she wants to be able to do in Spanish. I have a list of all the areas that she needs refreshing and we prioritized them. She is a visual and auditory learner, so I will create lesson plans for the next 6 months based on those learning styles. I communicated with her the types of activities to sharpen her listening comprehension, verbs, and speaking that are also practical for her life. She is waiting on an e-mail from me for homework. "The student and I worked to complete a Spanish assignment in which he translated phrases (particularly the conjugated verbs) from Spanish to English, as well as from English to Spanish. Then we reviewed the formulas he needs to know for his memorization quiz tomorrow. After a few minutes of quizzing back and forth he could identify the formula for a given situation as well as the applicable situation for a given formula without hesitation for 10 or the 10 formulas. I suggested that he make a blank copy of the formula chart to complete once or twice more tonight and once or twice more tomorrow before the test to ensure he does his best. Next session we will work on the review sheet for his upcoming geometry test."
