Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we: -worked through an article using the reciprocal teaching strategy -drilled vocab words -did practice upper/middle level drills -worked through corrections -practice the verbal section test"
"We reviewed the student's test results and discussed the areas that she needed help with. I sent questions for her to practice in math. I had her retake the test for practice. She went from the 20 percentile to 93%. I will send additional questions for each of her areas of concern as we move forward in preparation for taking the practice test."
"We focused on Reading Comprehension. We will begin using a new book for math at our next session. The student has performed well on the math drills we are doing in session."
"We reviewed purines and pyrimidines, and how to contrast them. G and A are purines and C and T/U are pyrimidines. Purines are a hexagon shape as well as a pentagon, whereas pyrimidines are just hexagons. They are connected by hydrogen bonds, which are weak and easily broken. A and T bond to each other through two hydrogen bonds, and G and C bond through three H bonds."
"Today we completed a review of the student's summer assignment. We then moved into more review of topics that he will see this school year. We reviewed fraction operations and then did absolute value work and graphing. The student said these topics are coming more easily to him and I told him to come up with topics and contact me or let his mother know what he would like to review during Friday's session."
"We worked more on Transport Phenomena. I detailed how to solve more example problems using flow assumptions. We also worked on how to solve the system once they'd been reduced to ODEs, going over each step."
