"The student and I went over a review packet for an upcoming exam. I showed her an easy way of thinking about the chain rule, to start from the exterior with derivatives, and work her way in. After doing a couple of examples, this started to sink in for her."
"The student and I went over equations of lines using the slope/intercept form. Also, equations using both the parallel and perpendicular concepts as they relate to slope. Some used graphing; some were just equations. She did well on understanding; she just wanted some reinforcement. No extra problems as she had a full set already."
"The student and I went over her homework (geometric and arithmetic sequences), and then we did more Pythagorean theorem problems. She is doing a good job of identifying how to find the missing side of a triangle by using the theorem. We are working on her identifying 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles so that she has a shortcut to work with instead of using the theorem for solving problems. For homework she is going to prepare for her test on Wednesday."
"The student and I went over her homework for the current unit. We looked at standard form, point-slope form, and slope-intercept form of lines. The student said that her main problem was remembering what the different forms were named, so we spent time coming up with tricks to help her remember."
"The student and I went over her homework which involved converting point slope to y-int form and standard form. I showed her how the three equations mean literally the same thing, just written in different ways. We also brushed up on her fractions."
"The student and I went over her last exam. She missed 8 points, and we looked through it to see where we could improve and it seemed to just be computational errors and no conceptual errors. We then worked on word problems that involved setting up 2 related linear equations. My goal here was to walk her through the process of taking what information was given to us in the problem to build our system of equations. The last thing we covered was consistent systems and inconsistent systems but she picked up on that quickly. She should review a few problems for her quiz tomorrow."
