The student and I reviewed the worksheet for unit 3, quiz 3, for her quiz tomorrow. This quiz will be on probability using Venn diagrams, tree diagrams, and area models. All of the questions were pretty straight forward except for an area model from a tree diagram. I told her to ask her teacher for clarity on that problem before the quiz, especially if the whole class is confused. She should do well on this quiz.

The student and I spent a little time reviewing working with scientific notation. She is fairly fluent with scientific notation as long as she is allowed to fully expand the terms, do the math, and then return them to scientific notation; she doesn't feel comfortable working with numbers that are still in scientific notation. It will be a good idea for us to review exponents and exponent rules so more, as her discomfort with scientific notation probably indicates that she's not comfortable working with exponents. We also spent some time reviewing the concepts she's been working on over the last few months.

The student and I spent half of the lesson working on corrections for his previous quiz. We focused on slope intercept form, vertex form, solving absolute value equations, and solving by factoring and quadratic formula. We spent the other half of the lesson starting on test preparation. We got through the first couple of sections and will continue our review at tomorrow's lesson. Overall, the student has an awesome foundation for algebra, and he is able to pick up new skills quickly!

The student and I spent more time going over complex limits today. The session was primarily just an extension of yesterday's session, as we prepared more for his quiz tomorrow on more difficult limits than those covered on his first quiz. He didn't struggle with anything, and is doing a better job every meeting of avoiding small errors.
