We covered isomers in organic chemistry and finished up the foundational topics before reactions. At our current pace, we should be able to cover all the topics at least a week or so before her exam. We went over a few general chemistry passages as well, and it's helpful to have her see how the content relates to different styles of questions.

The student and I discussed vaporization, colligative properties, and phase diagrams. I used visual demonstrations and thought experiments to discuss how energy is required to change phase without changing temperature. We discussed boiling point elevation and freezing point depression as well as molality. We discussed how to interpret phase diagrams, the uniqueness of that for water, and how solute effects change the diagram.

Today the student and I began a conceptual review of physics for the MCAT. We covered the topics of fluids and solids, and electricity and magnetism. In doing this review, we discussed the relevant concepts (with real life examples) of physics with conceptual explanations of the equations, which was very helpful for him for buoyancy, flow, and Bernoulli's principle.

We did a physical science practice test today. She was good with remembering facts from concept review (equations, concepts, etc.). There were some passages where getting information out was tricky, but otherwise the main focus again was on thinking in the MCAT style. The pattern seems to be that questions are a lot more straight forward than she believes, so thinking simpler will allow her to get more correct answers.

We completed various physical science passages in the topics of capacitors, electric circuits, electric fields, magnetic fields, hard/ soft acids and bases and waves. Overall, he had an understandably difficult time particularly with the E&M passages, which typically cause headaches for most MCAT students whose background is not in the physical sciences. He seemed to understand this as well and he definitely will need review in most of these topics, as well as recalling and applying the correct equations (capacitance and resistivity to bring up a few).
