How can a Trigonometry tutor help you?

Trigonometry is the branch of mathematics that teaches the relationships between angles and sides of triangles. You begin to learn trigonometry in geometry courses. This topic may be overwhelming if you are new to it or it may be easy and fun depending on the student. There are numerous careers that use trigonometry, including some you wouldn't think of right away. A few career paths that feature trig include engineering, medical services technicians, and even data entry. If you are struggling with this common subject, you don't have to struggle anymore. Work to improve in your course with the help of a professional trigonometry tutor in Nashville today.

You may struggle with right angles, Mollweide's formula, or law of sines. Or perhaps exsecant and cosecant are the most problematic for you. It doesn't matter if you are severely struggling and in desperate need of help or if you are just looking to boost your grade and work to improve. There is a tutor waiting to try to help you meet your maximum potential. All of the tutors that our educational directors may connect you with in Nashville are skilled in teaching trigonometry.

Session Summaries by Trigonometry Tutors

Nashville, TN Trigonometry tutoring
The student and I met tonight to go over a lesson she missed on the double-angle and half-angle trig formulas. She understood the formulas themselves without issue, but utilizing them to solve equations or prove identities was tricky at first. Fortunately, that improved with practice.

We discussed cos, sin, and tan in terms of the unit circle. We discussed how we use special triangles, 45-45-90 and 30-60-90, to find the sin, cos, and tan of 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°. Tying what she is learning now back to what she was leaning last week. We then made a table of all the special angles of a unit circle from 0° to 360° and discussed the pattern that emerges and why. We discussed the positive/negative value of the six trig functions in each quadrant and what that means. Lastly we went over the proof of the trig identity 1+tan^2 = csc^2.

The student and I began by reviewing the unit circle. Once we discussed its use as the foundation for many trigonometric problems, we reviewed the basic trigonometric functions and their associated graphs, as well as calculations for the values of trigonometric functions at various points along the unit circle. We then review logarithmic functions and the various ways to solve the associated problems. Finally, we reviewed interest, both continuous and compounded at various intervals. We worked on a variety of practice problems in all of the above areas. The student has a great attitude and was a very fast learner, quickly grasping the majority of the topics we reviewed. As long as he makes an effort to read through problems slowly and check over his work, I'm sure he will continue to improve. I had a lot of fun learning with the student and look forward to our continued studying.

Today, the student and I covered the rest of the trigonometric functions, particularly csc, sec, tan, and cot. We practiced graphing the functions given equations, writing the functions given graphs, and determining amplitude, period, x-shift, and y-shift given both equations and graphs. He seems to be struggling to grasp the concepts. He has expressed that his teacher hasn't really taught the class this material and it is evident because some of the basic fundamental knowledge he needed for this section was missing. He has a chart that he will be given on tests for values on the unit circle but he struggled tonight to tell me what the values on the chart meant. The chart will not be helpful to him if he doesn't understand how to use it. I feel Kevin made progress tonight in the session, but I feel that he needs to practice the odd numbered problems on his homework assignments, on his own, if he wants to do well on the test/final. These trig concepts are tricky for anyone, but with practice, I feel he can master them.
