Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Forecasting with decomposition of data - discussed the homework assignment. Left the domain problem for solo work."
"We went over the convergence tests that the student had learned, and discussed how to recognize which test should be used for a certain series. We also began reviewing for her test on Monday."
"During our session today, the student and I continued with functions. Given a variety of different functions (i.e., square root, linear, quadratic, function with asymptotes), we practiced finding the domain in both set builder and interval notations. Given a piece-wise function, we practiced finding the intercepts, domain and range, and the interval(s) in which the function is increasing or decreasing. We also reviewed point-slope, slope-intercept, and standard form for a function. We practiced modeling functions in these different forms when given specific information (i.e., points on the function, x or y intercept, function is parallel/perpendicular to another function). He is doing very well!"
"We worked on the second practice test. Apparently, the student prepared well for the current stage of the practice. We worked on some of the problems and summarized what strategy we got from each of them. I believed if he keeps practicing this format of solving the problems, he will do very well on the test."
"Today we started with the student's reading homework. I then helped her study for her Latin roots quiz the following day. Finally, we worked on her math homework on adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers."
"We went over the student's geometry worksheet. We worked on identifying polygons. She did a great job and remembered the shapes when we talked through them. We went thoroughly over why a rectangle isn't a square and a square is a rectangle. After we talked through it, it really clicked for her."
