Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Because this was my first session with the student, we mostly reviewed important fundamental concepts from general chemistry. Such concepts included identifying intermolecular forces, dipole moments, VSEPR, atomic orbital hybridization, and others. I asked her to look over practice problems in her book."
"The student and I first went over her math worksheet concerning area/perimeter questions to make sure she got the right answers. After that, I worked with her to review and we did some light editing of her science paper on Lionfish that is due tomorrow. She is a strong writer and only needed minor help citing sources and transitioning sentences."
"For today's session, the student and I worked on her review sheet for her Chemistry final. The first thing we did was go through some of the book problems, then we moved on to the review packet. After she finished the review packet, we checked the answers. Any answer she did not get correct we put a star next to it, so she knew what she had to study. I am very proud of her, she got a "A" on her final exam for world history. Yay!!"
"We went over problems that she had in class. Her professor goes over solutions without explaining what she is writing. I tried to show her ways I would approach the problems. I couldn't understand the way her professor was doing the problems, but eventually solved the problems another way. I explained the fundamentals of acids and bases and buffers so that she could understand what was happening conceptually."
"Today we worked on learning about topics related to taxonomy. We discussed the methods of categorizing organisms and learned about the traits of several prototypical phyla. The student had a strong understanding of the material"
"We finished up topics she felt she needed a little more work on for her test tomorrow. She has a really good understanding of the concepts; she just needs to take her time and look at what the question is really asking her."
