Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished reviewing and discussing the rest of the diseases, including the remaining endocrine, GI, and zoonotic diseases. We also completed the parasitology as well as the physics behind radiographs and other special imaging techniques. Our last topic to cover is pharmacology, which the student will cover tonight. We will meet tomorrow night to cover pharmacology, and then we will have intensive reviews and testing."
"Since our last meeting, the student has continued reviewing all subject areas for the DAT. Since QR is the last one up, today she and I focused on the quantitative reasoning section. Predominantly focusing on probability and statistics, we looked at the different types of probability questions, how to identify them, and formulas and methods for solving. We also looked at permutations and combinations. At the end, we looked at a few organic chemistry questions."
"The student and I reviewed some practice problems and decided it would be best to come up with "rules" she could use when solving specific types of problems to help with the math. I will provide her with some practice questions in our next section."
"The student had questions from his DAT Q Bank, and we worked problems, and I gave explanations to each of the possible answer choices, why they were right or wrong, and how the best answer was chosen. It was discussed that each question should be given a maximum time of one minute and that this requires the questions to be on general concepts broken down with a minimal number of steps. The final 30 minutes of our session were spent going over product predictions for organic as well as inorganic chemistry reactions."
"We covered these topics during the session: resonance, optics (mirrors, lenses), constructive/deconstructive interference, wavelength/frequency/period, limiting reagent, kinetics, and longitudinal vs. transverse waves. Things to review prior to our next session on Sunday: section bank Q's and concepts/material/questions the student found confusing from the section banks."
"We worked on Physical Science Diagnostic #4 today. Topics included work vs. energy vs. force, comparing an incline plane to a vertical, kinematics in 1 and 2 dimensions, diffraction, and calculation of different speeds of light in different mediums."
