Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a review sheet with two problems relating to projectile motion for upcoming assessments. The focus was on strategies to approach the problems. Since these types of problems are often multifaceted, and these were, it is important to know the sequence one should use to arrive at the solution. Therefore, we worked on identifying the sequence along with the application of formula."
"The student had three chapters of Latin vocabulary words to know for a test tomorrow. We typed the list onto the whiteboard on the online learning platform. I put them into categories by their part of speech to help him remember them in these categories. We erased the ones he knew well and continued to work on those he had trouble remembering. We discussed his upcoming religion PowerPoint on mystery cults that will be due next Tuesday. I asked him to start on this before our Monday session."
"We covered concepts in statics such as angular momentum and angle inertia. He was very attuned to the session and his willingness to learn certainly has helped him demonstrate progress. He will continue to practice these to be prepared for his test in 3 weeks."
"The student and I covered work with using specific Boolean phrases with regards to research, and using the shared screen format showed her how to input a topic line to find articles she was looking for and could use for her paper she is writing. She understood better how to use the research system on her own in using a tiered method to achieve the results that she needed. We discussed how she would be able to use the class to further her position in nursing management. I accessed four articles, with her approval, for her to use in her research paper, and emailed those to her for her to continue with. I encouraged her to contact me with additional needs with the research paper content."
"We covered some introductions and basics about the student's needs and previous scores on the SSAT. I gave her a practice test for homework with tips on how to go through the exam to see where she is struggling the most. She had an excellent attitude and seems to really want to improve her scores."
"We worked on multiplication by 0, 1, and 2 using cards. The students completed problems with the metric system for weight and reviewed the units for length and volume. This was a bit tricky, but when they were determining what measure to use in the metric and customary systems, it seemed to make sense to them. We ended the session with multiplications facts for 2's, 3's, and 5's. They did well."
