How can a Math tutor help you?

Being able to understand and apply concepts in math is an important part of day-to-day activities. You could be required to work with decimals, geometry, and measurements in virtually every corner of your life. Naperville, IL Math tutoring
During this session we focused on L'Hopital's rule. We did a couple of online questions and then some questions in the text book. We encountered a couple of questions that couldn't be explained algebraically but only by means of graphs. Other then that, the student understood everything and felt a lot more comfortable with the material. She has a good grasp and overall this session went well.

The student and I went over long division of polynomials. He understood the concept and basic methods. He did get stuck when dealing with there were polynomials not in order of their power, or if a power was missing. As, x^3 + X + 2. Notice, there is no term with a square. I helped him out by telling him to add a 0x^2 term to the polynomial; then carry out the division.

The student has a quiz on Thursday so my focus was on preparing her for that. I briefly covered each of the subjects for the quiz (critical points, extrema, Rolle's theorem, Mean Value Theorem, The Big 5). I explained the topics with illustrations and then we did at least one example for each together. I explained my usual method for studying for math exams so that she may put that in to practice. We then worked on her weekend homework assignment, which was predominantly about Rolle's Theorem. I'm looking forward to my next meeting with the student.
