Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed her problem set. I explained how to use the sequence function to define a vector, how to use a loop to run a function multiple times, and how to plot data and add to the plot using the lines function."
"We covered topics relevant to a Biology lab report including photosynthesis, cellular energetics, and biophysics of light wavelengths. He was able to formulate relevant answers for his written report using data collected in a previous class. He was inquisitive, looking up topics in his text using the index. He made progress with his report and seemed prepared for an upcoming exam. He also made progress in understanding the topics by thoughtfully describing the various processes using his own words while also incorporating what he learned from his classroom lectures."
"Went over concepts and problems relating to system of equations. From their worked with the student on word problem concepts and approaches on how to do them. After this went ahead and showed him what he would be doing for the rest of the week and where his problem work is heading."
"We reviewed for a quiz that he was to have tomorrow. We went over rules of exponentials, exponential growth functions, exponential decay functions, and inverse relationships. The student needs to slow down when he does problems so that he doesn't forget any rules necessary, which we will be going over next session."
"We learned how to make a Mobius Strip, as well as a concept map as an aid to writing. After writing for about 15 minutes on whether a Mobius Strip has one side or two, we reviewed their essays. After that, we read our novel out loud, discussed it and did another writing assignment on what each of the students would do if given $3,000 and then $30,000. Both students are well above grade level in critical thinking and writing ability."
"We went over spreadsheets of the data needed for the app. Specifically, we covered the full mod schedule and the monthly schedule. We also covered creating comma delimited (CSV) files to allow us to write code to load them into the app. We then discussed taking and storing a photo at a high level, and we obtained the link to the school's calendar."
