Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Went over practice problems using Law of Sines and Law of Cosines solving different types of triangles given angles and sides."
"Reviewed for her final exam. Topics covered include probability, factoring, handling square roots, geometric series."
"Student and I went over his notes and did four pages of practice problems. By the end of our session today, he was confident with exponents (multiplying, negatives, raising to a power) and matrices. He is moving through this course quickly, but everything seems to be making more sense this time around. We won't need to meet for a second session this week."
"This session covered finding and recording standard deviation and variance for large data sets. I had the student complete the method to find standard deviation by hand, then showed her how she could use her calculator to achieve a quicker result in a testing environment."
"This was our final review session before the student's big assessment on conic sections. She really wanted to make sure her understanding of the math subject matter was sound since she is trying very hard to bring up her grade in that class right now. Her teacher had given the class a checklist of the different topics he would be testing them on. We went down this checklist and attempted at least one of each type of problem to make sure she knew her way around solving them. She definitely seemed a lot more composed and quick to catch her mistakes before they snowballed into larger errors."
"Today the student and I worked through some math and chemistry questions she had. She was having difficulty with proofs by induction, so we worked out a few examples together and reviewed different tricks she can use when performing these proofs. Afterwards we covered some electrochemistry topics for her chemistry class. She seemed like she understood most of the chemistry and did pretty well with most of the problems."
