Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was working with Newton's laws and friction, and dealt with a few problems of equilibrium. At first, she needed help with setting up Newton's laws in two dimensions, but once we talked about the details involved, she understood it better. I think, with some practice, she will do well with these subjects."
"The student and I covered the basics of hybridization in chemical bonding and went through some questions in stoichiometry."
"We discussed the student's final review, which covers the whole semester. We will meet again tomorrow to continue our review."
"The student and I had a good session. I had him show me the work he did from the previous session, and he had done very well. There were a couple of questions, and I helped with those. We then finished working through Chapter 3 material. I assigned him a whole suite of problems from the end of Chapter 3 to work on. We then started working through the very beginning of Chapter 4 material."
"The student and I reviewed Biochem chapter 4 today. She came prepared on the homework I assigned her, as she accurately "taught me" about the difference between cellulose and maltose. We identified that a natural progression after carbohydrates would be to skip ahead to chapter 9 on glycolysis. In addition, today we worked on chapter 2 passage based questions on enzyme kinetics. She stated that after today, she felt like it was becoming increasingly clear how to apply the material she knows. We will continue to focus on passage based questions from previous chapters about one session per week. We will also add a session per week to ensure she can get her hours in."
"The student and I reviewed concepts related to gas laws, both qualitatively and quantitatively. We tried some practice problems related to each of the gas laws, and I explained how to set up each type of problem. We also briefly discussed colligative properties of solutions."
