Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was working with Newton's laws and friction, and dealt with a few problems of equilibrium. She had some trouble setting up Newton's laws in two dimensions, but once we talked about the details involved, she seemed to understand it rather better. I think, with some practice, she will do well with these subjects."
"We worked on conservation of energy applied to projectile problems to review for her quiz tomorrow. She just needed some help on how to approach this type of problem. The best place to start is by writing down the conservation of energy, including non-conservative work, and to figure out each term for a good choice of initial and final position."
"We spent most of our time solving two problems that she wanted to review from her recent exam. The student is very smart, organized, and always on top of her studies. We also touched on some chemistry because she had a test the next day, but she was solid in her understanding there, also."
"The student and I had a good session. We picked up where we left off drawing resonance structures. We then talked about inductive effects and how they work to stabilize ions in organic structures. We then went through a quiz from a different university dealing with naming, isomers, and condensed and structural formulas."
"The student and I spent this session reviewing code for an upcoming final assignment. We worked through multiple for, while, and if loop iterations while trying to solve an engineering problem. We made progress working through the code but ultimately we didn't come to any final solution. The student is going to continue working on the code on his own and further collaborate with his teammates to try to reach the solution."
"The student and I spent today's session going over and clarifying the steps involved in experimental procedure. He was assigned a specific scenario with which he was to design an experiment, identify the key components of that experiment, conduct the experiment, and then write up a report about the findings. When I left him, he was going to revise his report for Thursdays class."
